A long-time supporter of my work, Obi Kaye, recently had his statue of Yemaya break. He commissioned me to create a new one for him, only he wanted her playing a drum. Here is the finished statue. I gave her a crown of seven fish, each representing one of the 7 seas over which she rules. Her bata drum is adorned with cowrie shells, symbols of female fertility.
