(April 23, 2014) I created this sculpture for the ‘From the Cave into the Light’ art exhibition presented by the 6th Annual Taino Awards, on April 20, 2014, at The Bronx Museum of the Arts. The exhibit was a first-ever to be sponsored by the prestigious awards event.
Taino people consider the frog a fertility symbol and frog iconography in various forms is prevalent within the art and the creation stories in Taino culture.
The title of this sculpture is simply…. Fertility.
